Vault Group V: Round off entry vaults

Yurchenko stretched
Men's Code Of Points - 8.9 Start value

  • This vault is performed with a strong horizontal velocity resulting from the run and round off entry onto the board. From the board the preflight should be high enough to maintain the velocity that was generated by the pre-elements, but making sure that a body angle of around 45° is reached at hand contact (hands in the center of the horse) keeping the body in a slight arch.
  • The closing the arm-body angle immediately after beginning of the support is important in both the round off onto the board and the back handspring onto the horse.
  • A too high vertical rise during the transfer in the first flight phase should be prevented, meaning a short and fast support (the short flight time serves the preservation of the transmission energy).
  • An overstretching of the arm-body angle in the preflight enhances the turning velocity and allows for a fast support.
  • The "block" should be performed at an approximately 70-75° at the latest in order to achieve a high postflight.
  • The shoulder width support position allows a this vault type to be similar to the handspring exercises, and a more effective use of energy from the support.
