Vault Group II: Vaults with 1/1 turn in the first flight phase

Full twist in preflight to a front handspring front pike
Men's Code Of Points - 9.2 Start value

  • The preflight must naturally be somewhat higher than a normal handspring vault in order to perform the full turn before the support phase.
  • In the support phase the arm-body angle should be at approximately 110-115°, the angle of entry at approximately 45°.
  • The support angle directly before the postflight should be close to 70°, with hand placement at the center of the table.
  • Due to the lack of explosive heel drive in the preflight phase the gymnast must rely on proper body positioning and an explosive opening of the arm-body angle.
