  The gymnast must perform one vault except in Apparatus Finals where he must show two vaults from different Vault Groups. Each vault begins with a run and a take off from both feet (with or without a round off to the board) with legs together and is executed with a brief support phase on the horse with both hands. The vault may contain single or multiple turns around the two axes of the body.
  The men's vault stands 135 cm tall. It is 35 cm wide by 160 cm long. The runway is 1 m wide and a maximum of 25m long.

  Hecht: A Hecht vault is executed by jumping forward and placing both hands onto the horse, then simultaneously pushing off to a standing position in the air maintained until the landing.

  I - Direct vaults (stoops, hechts, etc)

  II - Vaults with a full turn in the first flight phase

  Roche - Handspring forward and double front salto in tuck position.

  III - Handspring and Yamashita style vaults

  Lopez - Handspring sideward with ¼ turn and forward flip with 2½ twists in stretched position.

  IV - Vaults with ¼ or ½ turn in the first flight phase

  Scherbo - Round off, jump backwards with a full twist to a back handspring and a salto backwards stretched.
